Gimme Shelter - Event Clean Up Volunteers

Gimme Shelter is an event hosted by Phoenix Community Development Services raise awareness of the challenges faced by those in our community without homes and to give our citizens an opportunity to help end homelessness in Central Illinois.   On Friday, March 6, community members will spend the night outside the Peoria Civic Center in a cardboard box - from 6:00 pm in the evening until 6:00 am the following morning.   Gimme Shelter will bring the community together to experience just a taste of what it is like to have no home to spend the night in.  

Proceeds from Gimme Shelter will benefit Phoenix Community Development Services’ efforts to provide supportive housing and outreach services to the area’s homeless population.   

Volunteers are needed to assist with event clean up early Saturday morning at the conclusion of our Gimme Shelter event.  We know it's really early for a Saturday, but promise to provide all the volunteers with a delicious hot catered breakfast before we put them to work!
