Our Work
The Peoria Riverfront Museum is a collaborative effort of eight partner organizations with nearly 500 years of combined experience educating, entertaining and supporting culture in the Peoria area. We strive to bring exciting national and international exhibitions to central Illinois, with the goal of offering world-class experiences here in that visitors might normally have to travel great distances to see. Our mission is to inspire lifelong learning for all by connecting art, history, science and achievement through collections, exhibitions and programs.
Our programs are an extension of the classroom – engaging the community, empowering teachers, and educating students. Our collective objective is to provide interdisciplinary learning opportunities for people of all ages and positively impact our region's economy.
Ways to Volunteer
Volunteers fill many needs at the Peoria Riverfront Museum including:
- Assisting staff with special events that provide educational opportunities for kids and adults
- Helping guide kindergarten through eighth grade students through educational experiences at the museum as part of our Every Student Initiative
- Supervising students at our day camps and summer camps.
- Providing assistance with lectures and special events for seniors.
Trained volunteers also work as gallery docents, lobby education presenters and Welcome Center greeters.
The Peoria Riverfront Museum has year-round activities and needs during daytime and evening hours, on weekdays and weekends. Contact Kate Schureman at kschureman@peoriariverfrontmuseum.org or 309-863-3002 for more information.
