Our Work

Our mission is to proclaim Jesus Christ, and in His name love our neighbors and provide hope to the community through life-transforming ministries.

South Side Mission's aim is not only to alleviate the powerful physical poverty of those on the south end but a determination to offer life-transforming change through the spiritual hope of Jesus Christ.

We offer lunch at our soup kitchen on weekdays and have youth after-school programs through the school year. In the summer we have Summer Day Camp at our main campus and a residential Summer Camp at Camp Kearney for youth in the 61605 area. Our Hope Builders ministry does home repair projects for families in need in the 61605, focusing on seniors and veterans. All of our ministries have a focus on presenting the Gospel by word and deed and showing God's love to our community.

Ways to Volunteer

We need volunteers for our thrift stores year round to help process donations, hang clothing, greet customers and with store upkeep.

Our Youth Department needs volunteers throughout the summertime for our Summer Day Camp and during the school year for our after-school GAP tutoring.

We need a large number of volunteers for Thanksgiving and Christmas to prepare, package and deliver meals. We feed several thousand folks each year!

We also have various events throughout the year where we need the help of volunteers.

Volunteers must complete a background check and waiver.
