Our youth basketball season is tipping off soon at The Salvation Army Peoria Citadel Corps and Community Center, and we need your help to make it a slam dunk!

We’re looking for Game Day Volunteers to help our young athletes have a great season. Volunteers will assist with setting up the gym, keeping score, and creating a welcoming, organized game day experience for players and families.

Game Days:
Saturdays, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
August 16 – October 11 (9 weeks total)

Whether you can help every week or just a few Saturdays, we’d love to have you on our team!

Perfect for parents, high school students needing service hours, sports enthusiasts, or anyone who loves supporting kids in our community.

Volunteer Opportunity with The Salvation Army – Peoria

Looking for a flexible, impactful way to give back—from anywhere? Host a remote collection drive and rally your friends, workplace, school, church, or community group to support neighbors in need!

We’re seeking Volunteer Drive Leaders to collect high-need items for individuals and families served by The Salvation Army of Peoria.

What We Need Most:

Hygiene Products (toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, soap, feminine products)

Pantry Items (non-perishables, canned goods, shelf-stable snacks)

Men’s Shelter Essentials (new/gently used socks, belts, shoes, underwear, t-shirts)

Cold Weather Items (blankets, coats, gloves, hats, scarves)

You Can Help By:
Organizing a collection at your school, workplace, church, or online
Spreading the word via social media, email, or flyers
Coordinating drop-off of donated items at our downtown Peoria location

This is a great opportunity for students, service clubs, scout troops, youth groups, businesses, and families looking to give back on a flexible schedule on your own terms and timeline!

Looking for a meaningful way to serve your community? The Salvation Army Sylvia Fites Family Services Center in downtown Peoria is calling on compassionate cooks, meal preppers, and friendly faces to help feed our neighbors in need.

We’re especially in need of meals on: Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays
Location: The Salvation Army, 414 NE Jefferson Street, Peoria, IL
Clients Served Daily: 50–70 individuals

Here’s how you can help:
Prepare and serve a warm meal cafeteria-style.
Bring your own ingredients or donate a meal (prepared in a licensed kitchen preferred!).
Come as a group, family, or individual - everyone’s welcome!

Whether you’re a culinary pro or just love helping others, this is your chance to make a real difference week after week.

Are you looking for a daily (Monday - Friday) volunteer opportunity? Perhaps you are interested in volunteering over the lunch hour? Maybe you are looking for a way to feed the hungry in our community? If so, distributing sack lunches as part of our "to-go" sack lunch program is the perfect volunteer activity for you!

 

_________________________________________________________________________________________ The Salvation Army provides "to-go" sack lunches to those in need in the community 5 days a week (Monday - Friday) from 12 pm - 1 pm.  We are looking for a volunteer that is interested in volunteering on a consistent basis, Monday through Friday from 12 pm - 1 pm. The volunteer would distribute the prepared sack lunches to the community members in need. (If there is down-time, the volunteer would assist with packing food pantry bags and passing out pantry bags in the Warehouse).

This specific activity takes place at The Salvation Army's Warehouse, located at 417 NE Adams St. in downtown Peoria. The supervisor of this volunteer activity will be the Food Pantry Manager.

Food pantries. Warm meals. Sack lunches. The Salvation Army is committed to offering these programs and services to those in need in our Peoria-area community, but we need your help! Volunteers are needed to help in our Family Services Kitchen and Warehouse, located at 417 NE Adams St. in downtown Peoria, with the following: food pantry packing               sandwich making sack lunch preparation general cleaning and organization When we love beyond hunger, we can provide hope and help for those in need in our community. (Family Services Kitchen and Warehouse volunteer opportunities will vary depending on the needs of the Kitchen and Warehouse of each specific day - Most often, these volunteer opportunities will take place during our business hours of Monday - Friday 8 am - 4 pm) However, we are flexible - If there is a specific date and time that you have in mind to volunteer, we will work with you to the best of our ability to make it happen. Many of the opportunities listed above can be offered as a remote or virtual volunteer opportunity.
