The Water Seals Pool Group is a new aquatics program designed specifically for children with autism and sensory processing disorder. The goals of this program include helping children improve water safety, social skills, motor planning, and sensory processing ability in a warm-water setting.
We create a 1:1 opportunity for each child in the class to be paired up with a volunteer in the water. Volunteers provide extra safety precautions and morale boosts and help set up and cleanup activities. This is a great opportunity for anyone in a pre-health career track or for anyone who enjoys working with children!
The class is led by a licensed therapist and a swim instructor / lifeguard. *Volunteers do not need to be certified in lifeguarding and / or CPR / First Aid* Volunteers are required to wear a "modest" bathing suit (one-piece for women, trunks for men).
