A CASA is a specially trained community volunteer who works with a child (or children) in the child welfare system, who has experienced abuse or neglect. The CASA meets with the child monthly, speaks with others in the child's life and provides information to the judge that helps him/her make the most well-informed decisions about the child. Note that at this time the meetings with the child and those involved in the case are happening by phone and/or virtually.
