Help United Way Activate Volunteers for Disasters

In the days, weeks, and months following a disaster, community members look for opportunities to help with recovery. With the support of PNC, our volunteer engagement underwriter, the Heart of Illinois United Way is pleased to provide our community with the "Activate for Disasters" initiative.

This effort provides a centralized volunteer resource for when a need for support arises. The program ensures volunteers are ready to serve by collecting information from individuals who want to be contacted in the event of a disaster, directing volunteers during the crisis, supporting recovery efforts, and reporting volunteer impact.

Benefits as a Volunteer:
New and existing users of volunteer.hoiunitedway.org can be a part of this new program by simply checking "contact me in the event of a disaster".

  • Share your basic contact information ahead of time.
  • Be informed on preparing and supporting the community during a disaster and when the skies are blue.
  • Receive emails immediately when help is needed.
  • Find the best opportunities for you to help.
