Our Work

Central Illinois Agency on Aging's mission is to help older adults and persons with disabilities maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life by providing advocacy, partnership, and comprehensive support services. As the designated Area Agency on Aging across six central Illinois counties, we coordinate programs that address the unique needs of caregivers and care recipients, ensuring nobody faces the journey of aging alone.

Ways to Volunteer

We are part of a network created by the Older Americans Act, which aims to help older individuals live independently and maintain their quality of life. The services offered by our organization include:

  1. Information and Referral Services: helping older adults and their families find available resources, programs, and services in their area.
  2. Home and Community-Based Services: These may include meal programs (like home-delivered meals or congregate meals), transportation, home health care, and personal care assistance.
  3. Caregiver Support: offering programs to support family caregivers, such as training, respite care, and financial assistance.
  4. Health and Wellness Programs: offer health promotion activities, including exercise programs, chronic disease management, and fall prevention workshops.
  5. Advocacy and Public Education: work to raise awareness about the needs of older adults and advocate for policies that benefit seniors in the community. We aim to help older adults and persons with disabilities live safely and comfortably in their own homes and communities for as long as possible.
