Request for a Small Group or Team Volunteer Project

Please Note:

  • Prior to submitting a request for a team/group volunteer project, we recommend browsing the existing needs posted on volunteer.hoiunitedway.org.  Many of the ongoing needs posted on our online volunteer center are great opportunities for team building.
  • Heart of Illinois United Way partner agencies vary in facility size, outdoor space, location, programming, staffing, and number of special events. These factors physically affect the number of volunteers an organization can accommodate within their facilities or outdoors at any given time.
  • The Heart of Illinois United Way recommends volunteer groups/teams have 10 or less volunteers. Larger groups may need to be split into smaller groups to accommodate.
  • If you would like to reach out to an agency directly, click here for a list of our partner agencies that regularly accept volunteer teams.

Team Details

Due to the physical size of our agencies and public health safety, group or team volunteer projects range typically accommodate 5-25 volunteers max; smaller groups are able to volunteer indoor or outdoors, but larger groups typically will need to volunteer outdoors. If our agencies do not have a project large enough for your team, you may need to split your volunteers between more than one project. This form maxes out at 25 volunteers. If you have more than 25 volunteers, please call 309-674-5181, ext. 1234 for assistance.
When you request a group volunteer project, you are agreeing to:
• use our site (https://volunteer.hoiunitedway.org) to coordinate this volunteer project
• register your entire team on our site
• provide at least two (2) weeks notice in order to coordinate the project
• keep consistent communication with United Way throughout the process including any changes to your request especially such as cancelling or rescheduling
