Please Join Our Online Volunteer Community!

We thank you and your organization for your interest in Heart of Illinois Volunteers portal (volunteer.hoiunitedway.org) and our partner platforms at Bradley University, University of Illinois College of Medicine-Peoria, and SERVE Illinois.

Managed by the Heart of Illinois United Way and our local university partners, our online volunteer community is available for central Illinois nonprofit organizations and public schools in Peoria, Tazewell, Woodford, Marshall, Stark and Putnam counties. This online mobile-friendly volunteer management platform is designed to increase engagement, develop long-term relationships, and track involvement.

About Get Connected Software
Heart of Illinois Volunteers (volunteer.hoiunitedway.org) and our partner platforms utilize the Get Connected platform produced by Galaxy Digital.
It is designed to be a nearly, completely automated process to increase community impact by easier volunteer placement and follow-up while at the same time, meeting more needs of nonprofit organizations in the community.

Core Features

  • Mobile‐friendly experience designed to drive volunteer and nonprofit engagement through profile information, contact management, automated messaging, searchable opportunities, targeted messaging to volunteers, group project capacity and tools, and logging of service hours.
  • Enables nonprofits to easily promote volunteer opportunities and community-based events using a familiar social environment.
  • Allows members of your community to browse existing needs and then register for service opportunities that align with their passions.
  • Builds a database of volunteers and provides tools to easily communicate and engage with volunteers in a targeted way that is based on their history and interests/skills.
  • Generates reports on all volunteer data to capture useful information on the impact of volunteerism within your community.
  • Social media integration of listed needs and volunteer responses to increase the channels of communication.
  • Local technical support and training through the Heart of Illinois United Way.
  • Opportunities to network, share resources and learn about best practices for volunteer engagement with fellow nonprofit organizations.

User Agreement and Approval Process

  • Applications for Nonprofit Organization and Public School Accounts will be accepted year-round, and approved quarterly by a committee of staff and volunteers that support the Heart of Illinois United Way and and our partner platforms.
  • Please note: organization profiles, needs and events posted on volunteer.hoiunitedway.org are shared with volunteer.bradley.edu.
  • All account applicants and account managers will need to abide by, and submit, a completed User Agreement. We encourage your organization to review the User Agreement prior to beginning your application.
  • In addition, all account managers are required to attend a basic training session to learn the Get Connected software.
